Post Menopausal Diet: What Foods Should and Shouldn’t be Included?
Regardless of the diet that you decide to go on, it’s going to include foods that are recommended to consume and others that should be avoided. A post menopausal diet is no exception. This type of diet is of course specifically designed for women with menopause that aims to provide relief from symptoms that women are experiencing.
A variety of symptoms are connected with menopause, such as insomnia, night sweats, hot flashes, and migraines. Only having to experience even one of these symptoms can prove to be challenging and can really have an affect on the quality of life of women.
When putting together a post menopause diet, several important points should be kept in mind.
Foods to Avoid
First, knowing which foods not to include in your post menopause diet is just as important as the ones you should include. Symptoms of menopause and migraines are triggered often times by dairy and wheat, so these should not be consumed. At the very least, you can leave them out for awhile to see if any positive effects have occurred.
Any processed foods and those that have high levels of salt and sugar should be avoided. Though, these should not be consumed heavily no matter what diet you have. Before buying any food, take a look at the ingredients on the label first. A good rule of thumb when determining whether food is unhealthy or not is to see if there are any ingredients that you have trouble pronouncing. If so, then chances are the food is not healthy.
Foods to Include
So now that we have covered some of the foods you should avoid consuming, what about the foods that you should eat as a part of your post menopausal diet? You can never eat too many vegetables and fresh fruit, so these should be a part of most of your meals. Drinking the recommended amounts of water each day and eating flax or whole grain break is advised.
Drinking a sufficient amount of water is important whether you are someone that is currently dealing with menopause or not. The healthier your lifestyle is, the less you will have to deal with menopause symptoms.
